Aditya Bidikar

Aditya Bidikar is a comic-book letterer and occasional writer based in India.

This is something I’m trying to do to blog more and “live” on the blog instead of on social media (which I’m mostly not on anyway). Several of my favourite bloggers have this daily “status update”-type thing. Let’s see if that helps. This obviously won’t be going into the newsletter.

The idea is to take a status call at the beginning of each weekday. If it doesn’t work out over time, I’ll just delete all the entries.

STATUS / Monday, start of the week. I’m nearly done with work for the month, and will be rotating in to caretake for my dad as my mother takes a well-deserved break.

ON THE DESK / Today I’ll be delivering final files for True Weird #12 and #13, sending in my first lettering pass of Al Ewing’s Starman story for DC Pride 2024, and lettering Dawnrunner #4. If I have some space after that, I also have a few pages of The Other Hand #5 that I can bring forward to work on.

READING / I’ve been making my way through John McPhee’s short essay collection Draft No. 4. Productivity guru Cal Newport nigh-deifies McPhee as a non-fiction writer, and I’ve enjoyed the works of his that I’ve read, so I’ve found it interesting reading his thoughts on writing.

WATCHING / Currently on episode 2 of Netflix’s Ripley and on episode 3 of Supersex, which I began watching because of Sean T. Collins’s essays on the show.

LINKS / What if everyone jumped at once? / How to measure protein on your plate (particularly relevant for Indians) / “God knows I want to break free” – Philip Purser-Hallard on Gridlock / Tom Ewing’s blog series on Cerebus / What is really inside the briefcase in Pulp Fiction?
